About Me

I was born in 1937 into an East Texas family of farmers. I was the fourth generation to be born on the land. In 1940 our family along with several of my mother's brothers, along with their families, my daddy's older bother and family, loaded up and headed for the big city of Dallas to start a new life. My sister who had just graduated from High School always described the caravan as being very grapes of wrath-ish. My family settled in West Dallas; the others were close by in the Oak Cliff area. Daddy was the only one to go back to the farm five or so years after the war. The others stayed in Dallas.
